About Mt. Carmel, IL - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Situated in the state of Illinois, the city of Mt Carmel belongs to the Wabash County and serves as its county seat. Home to a population of 7,284 people, the city is positioned on a total area of 5.00 square miles of which 0.14 square miles is water. The town is located where the Wabash, Patoka, and Write rivers merge together. The city borders the Indiana counties of Knox and Gibson.

An amazing fact to know is that the bridge over the Wabash River was colored differently on the two sides of the state line. Running between Illinois and Indiana, the bridge was painted in the colors white and black on their respective sides. The bridge was later repainted to be green used to connect the states of Princeton and Indiana to Mt Carmel through the Indiana State Road 64 and Illinois Route 15. The bridge has now been replaced with one that can handle large amounts of traffic.

The city boasts its infrastructure and recreational facilities that mimic those of bigger cities but without too large of a crowd. The city’s events feature annual festivals such as the Ribber fest, a July 4th celebration and even a little something for the holiday season called Christmas Uptown. Every year, the Annual Ribber Fest aims to generate funds that will be donated to charity. They accomplish this by inviting the city to enjoy a delicious barbeque and other foods. The holiday festivities start in the first week of September where the children gather around to engage themselves in activities and other fun games.

The city also offers something to visitors that are looking for a close-interaction with nature. The Beall Woods State Park is one area to do various activities such as fishing, camping, and hiking. With a separate area for camping, the park features long hiking trails surrounded by beautiful scenery which make for a relaxing experience.
